I received my new Montana backpack and am super impressed with both the beauty of the leather and the functionality of the design.
The attention to detail that Jekyll and Hide has applied to the product is really visible. The well placed pockets, zippers and interior room make the backpack not only beautiful but very easy to organize for travel, business or just a day pack.
I am looking forward to many years of use and this will not be my last Jekyll and Hide purchase.
AS FEATURED IN
I discovered J&H in Cape Town, and immediately bought several items; brilliant mens purse, two laptop cases, three phone cases and couple of backpacks. When I got back to the UK, I was overjoyed to find they were here also! My advice is don't bother looking anywhere else for fine leather personal goods.
Have gone through product range of Jekyll & Hide in details. i am impressed with the product with fittings. Will certainly have one of the backpack sometime in future.
Having always wanted a leather backpack, I could never find a brand or a model that had it all. Either they were too focused on form over function, or at an unnecessarily high price-point.
That is, until I discovered Jekyll & Hide. Honestly, if I ever designed my dream backpack, this particular bag is 90% there (if you're curious, the missing 10% is for pebble-grained leather + side pockets for water bottles and small umbrellas). The leather is absolutely stunning and has developed a gorgeous patina over the last several months (I clean and wax mine every 2/3 months with a high-quality wax blend). I've been on the receiving end of several compliments thanks to this backpack. The cotton canvas lining is also harder-wearing and feels so much better than polyester.
Functionally, it's near-perfect. There are three separate large areas each with specific pocket-ry for me to organise to my heart's delight (read: OCD) - seriously, most other leather backpacks have very little internal organisation. The mesh back is breathable and comfortable, and the padding on the straps (once again, most leather backpacks have skinny or painful straps that bite) means that heavier loads are no great burden.
Why 4 stars instead of 5? The zips. They always need to catch on the cotton lining so I have to get into the habit of pulling them a little away when zipping and unzipping. And the zips themselves could have been of slightly better quality.
Minor niggles aside, I love this backpack.
I purchased this rucksack as a present for my husband. He was really pleased with it. As he travels constantly for work the design of the bag is perfect, with the added bonus of being beautiful. We are really impressed with the quality and design.
