WHAT IS RFID?

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the wireless, non-contact use of radio frequency waves to transfer data. A relatively new technology, it allows data-storing tags to be identified, read and tracked without line of sight. These tags respond to certain radio frequencies by allowing them access to the data stored on the object they’re attached to.

Many industries use RFID tags to track the location of automobiles, pharmaceuticals, livestock and pets.

The problem is that RFID tags can be attached to personal belongings, allowing complete strangers to access, clone and use the personal data stored on these. So your identity documents and bankcards could allow criminals access to your address, contact number, social security number, pertinent account or employee information.

To mitigate these risks, Jekyll & Hide lines each and every bespoke leather product with a specially engineered RFID-blocking fabric, preventing harmful radio waves from accessing, storing or cloning your private information.
